Having an autographed comic book is a dream of any comic book collector. I bought a Captain America comic book at Comic Odyssey. I noticed that Mark Gruenwald and Ron Lim autographed the comic book. I quickly researched their autographs. Ron Lim usually puts the date on the right side and Mark Gruenwald usually writes the letter d like a triangle. I never expected to get an autographed comic book for $3(P150). I’m really happy because I am a fan of Mark Gruenwald. I have some comic books written by him. Three days ago, Comic Odyssey had a sale. I took advantage and bought three X-men comic books and two Captain America comic books. I noticed again that both of the Captain America comics are signed by Mark Gruenwald and Ron Lim. I showed it to the guy at the store. He said that it is a really good deal and I said to myself it’s more than a good deal. It’s a jackpot! It seems like the guys at Comic Odyssey didn’t scan the comic books that they bought.

Step 1: Do your research Its always good to research before going to the comic book store because you need to find the specific comic book you want to read and make sure it’s in the same series and volume. External links: http://www.comicvine.com/ http://forums.comicbookresources.com/ http://marvel.com/comics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Comics   Step 2: Find a comic book shop you’ll like. External Links: http://www.comicshoplocator.com/StoreLocator/IntlSearch http://comicbookrealm.com/lcs http://www.the-master-list.com/   Step 3: Follow a series Its always better to follow a series rather than buying random comic books. If your comic book shop doesn’t have the specific issue you need, try finding it in a different shop, or get them online. To check the comic book’s issue chronology, go here: http://marvel.com/comics or here: http://www.comicvine.com/   Step 4: Get bag and boards Caring for your comic books is really important because you certainly don’t want your comic book to end up like the comic book below. All comic book stores usually sell them per piece or sometimes by packs. The best bag and board I know is Ultra Pro. If you don’t want bag and boards, try the top loader. Top loaders are thicker than the average bag and boards. If you ask me, I prefer the normal bag and board. External Links: http://www.ultrapro.com/product_list.php?cPath=75     Step 5: Find a place to store your comic books If you have more than 20 comic books, it’s always wise to get a comic book box. You can also arrange your comic books by issue and will be easier for you to find the comic book you want to read. However, if you don’t want to store it in a box there’s always a shelf or a drawer.   Step 6: Let your collection grow! If you already have a box full of comic books, consider buying really old comic books or first appearances of famous comic book characters to add value to your collection.

comic collecting

My hobby for collecting comics started three years ago. Before that, I wasn’t really crazy about it.

We first bought my 90’s comics in an old book store right after we came from the hospital. I was 7 years old at the time so I knew nothing about comics and on how to take care of them.

Two years later, I learn more and more about them, and I got interested in comics that’s why I started collecting since then.

Right now I have about 29 comics. The series that I’ve been following recently is the X-Men Curse of the Mutants. So far, I have the issues #1-#5, all in perfect condition. I really wish to complete this series.

If you’re wondering if what else would be interesting to collect aside from comics, I suggest Marvel cards or DC Cosmic cards and Heroclix. I’m still researching where I can buy them here in the Philippines aside from Sulit, Ayosdito or OLX. Some of the ads are waaay too expensive like 100 pesos each card I guess that’s too much. I’d rather find and buy the brand new ones, if that’s the case.

If I know the place to buy Marvel cards or DC cards I’ll write about it right away. But if you want to buy Heroclix I know that they sell it in Comic Odyssey.

I’ll continue my comic collecting until I have a room full of them!

Yesterday I invited my dad to watch The Avengers. I was very excited and I couldn’t even wait because Avengers is one of my favorite comics.

Steve Rogers {Captain America} was recruited By Nick Fury to join the S.H.I.E.L.D. because Loki {brother of Thor} will have a war between the Asgardians and the Avengers. Nick fury is planning to recruit  Iron man, Black Widow, The Hulk, Captain America. Thor stopped the invasion of the Asgardians from Earth. Hawkeye was possessed by the power of Tesseract or Odin’s cube. The tesseract was stolen by Loki from the S.H.I.E.L.D. to open the portal from Earth to Asgard to send Loki’s army. While Black Widow recruited Hulk {Bruce Banner} in India, Black Widow explained that the tesseract’s gone missing. Iron Man, Black Widow and Captain America met inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. ship. While finding the tesseract, Thor {god of thunder} landed on top of their ship. Nick Fury Recruited Thor too. When Loki’s recruited soldiers attacked the flying ship, Hulk became angry and transformed into a monster. Black Widow was running away from Hulk because he’s rampaging in the helicarrier. Black Widow escaped and saw his possessed friend Hawkeye, They fought each other and Black Widow slammed Hawkeye’s head and he turned back to normal. Iron Man tried to fix the broken engine so the ship won’t fall. Captain America and Iron man fought the soldiers together. Hulk was attacked by the S.H.I.E.L.D’s own jet to distract Hulk. Hulk attacked the jet and he fell. When the attack was over, Hawkeye and the rest went to the city to stop the portal from opening. While Hulk found himself naked inside a warehouse, and somebody saw him break the ceiling. The Avengers fought the army. Thor and Loki fought. Loki stabbed Thor but it did not work. Hulk arrived in the city, he attacked the giant robots and the army became smaller in number. The council of S.H.I.E.L.D. told Nick Fury to send nuclear weapon so the invasion would stop. Some of the rebels released a nuclear weapon. Iron Man led the missile outside the portal. He threw the missile at the giant ship of the army. The robots died. And the portal closed too. The Avengers saved the world from the invasion. Thor and Loki went back to Asgard.

My favorite character was Iron Man and Thor, Because Iron Man saved the city from a missile sent by the S.H.I.E.L.D. council and Thor because he defeated his stepbrother from invading the Earth .

I liked the movie so much. It was written well, cast was great and most of all, great CGI.
